The Bikram and Baptiste series both create long and lean muscle tone while providing a fat-burning cardio workout. The harder you work in class, the more calories that you’ll burn. On average a practitioner will burn between 700-1000 calories per 90minute class. In addition, most students start making healthier life choices which also support their practice.
Yoga is as a natural stress reliever. At Yarrow, the methods of teaching, the specific sequencing of postures, the emphasis on breath, and the total studio environment aid in emotional release and deep relaxation. Sensory over- stimulation is 'slowed down' through conscious breathing and awareness of mind-body connection, through the moving mediations. Anxiety, worry and fear examples of emotions that are relieved through continuous practice and focus.
In the beginning you may feel a bit drained, but after a few classes you’ll notice a substantial increase in energy. On and off of your mat! What you practice in class will translate to your everyday life, off of the mat. You will wake up easily and will sleep more soundly.
HEALING OF OLD INJURIES AND CHRONIC PAIN
Both series offered use the method of “tourniquet effect." Blood flow to certain points of the body is restricted (blocked off) and upon the release, healing- oxygenated blood flushes through the body, nurturing the development of healthy cells. Old injuries naturally begin to feel better than ever, and chronic pain is diminished as you increase your total body muscle strength and flexibility.

Our classes stretch and strengthen every muscle in the body. Increased flexibility, muscle tone, strength, and balance result from continued practice. Breathing deeply and sustaining breath in the hot room exercises the heart and lungs improving the elasticity of the organs. Improve lung capacity and strengthen your cardio.
